More than 800,000 people have joined #TeamTrees®. Whether you planted one tree, or a million-and-one, we did this together.
It’s easy! Select the method of currency you would like to donate, fill out some optional information about yourself, including an email address for a tax receipt, then a protected wallet address will be generated for your donation that will link directly to the #TeamTrees wallet.
Donating cryptocurrency is a non-taxable event, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct it on your taxes. This makes Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax efficient ways for you to support #TeamTrees.
The IRS classifies cryptocurrency as a property for tax purposes which means it is typically the most tax-efficient way to support #TeamTrees. When donating cryptocurrency, you receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of the cryptocurrency, and you avoid the capital gains tax you would have incurred if you had sold the cryptocurrency and then donated. That means you can donate more, as well as deduct more on your tax return.

#TeamTrees is continuing to plant trees worldwide, which includes new ways to fund our mission. Cryptocurrency as a donation method is rapidly growing and will provide a whole new way to plant trees and save the planet.
The cryptocurrencies that we can accept are Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USD Coin through our partners at Every.org. They have partnered with Coinbase, one of the most trusted brokerages in cryptocurrency. This ensures the necessary bandwidth is available to facilitate donations of any volume, as well as ensure that transactions are completed safely and securely. We are working to expand the types of cryptocurrency and tokens/alt coins, so if yours isn’t available yet, it could be in the future.
For donations less than $5,000, only Bitcoin, Ethereum, or USD Coin can be used, but exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis. For donations exceeding $5,000, different cryptocurrencies can be used, but you will need to email crypto@every.org to request an address.
